We get this question a lot. The original purpose of the site was to offer healing for those afflicted with tuberculosis. After the cure for TB was found the site became a facility for the treatment of mental illnesses. Some patients got better, some didn’t. If there are haunted places in the world, this very well may be one of them.

The Sanatorium is being converted into a public event site. We are used to odd requests for events or use of the site. A couple of questions we will ask are… Is it legal? Will your group be considerate of the natural and historic beauty of the site? And, will it be a nuisance to Parke County?

During the ten days of the Covered Bridge Festival we will have Flashlight Tours available. Tickets will be available on this website, later this summer.

Definitely. The site will be changing rapidly over the course of 2021. If you are looking for an abandoned asylum and ghost town for your film, let us know soon so we can get you in before we start putting scaffolding up everywhere.
