Dungeon Siege 3 Wannabe Trailer

Posted by

Square Enix has unveiled the *sigh* trailer for the third Dungeon Siege game. In my opinion, this is a new low for the industry. The trailer is like a shitty movie trailer, with still images and messages like "From the creators of Fallout New Vegas and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II". Yes, the game's being developed by Obsidian Entertainment and no, I have no idea how they manage to work on so many stuff at once.

The project's supervised by the original creator of Dungeon Siege Chris Taylor and Gas Powered Games. The game's set to launch next year year on PS3, PC and Xbox 360. Here's the trailer by the way(courtesy of IGN):

Relic Cares About The Loyal PC Audience

Posted by

THQ together with Relic Entertainment announced today that they are currently working on  a PC version of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine too, in addition to the firstly announced Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Jonathan Dowdeswell, General Manager of Relic Entertainment declared promptly: "The loyal PC audience is incredibly important to us here at Relic so we are delighted to be able to announce the PC version of the game.”

Isn't that a nice thing to say? And here we thought that they forgot all about us PC gamers. Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine is a FPS that puts the player in the boots of a heavily armed and armored Space Marine who struggles to defend his race against orks, necrons and whatnots. The game's expected to be released somewhere in 2011 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Mafia 2 Exclusive PS3 DLC

Posted by

"Call Jimmy man, I think this guy's having a panic attack"

Yes, there's no Mafia 2 yet, but why wait for it to be released before announcing a DLC? Sure, they could have just added the stuff from this DLC into the actual game, but you can't sell it for 80 buck now, can you? Yes, it's not free. For $9,99 we will take the role of Jimmy in (wait for it) The Betrayal of Jimmy. Jimmy is a badass mercenary the other pussy wise guys call to do the dirty work, like killing priests or whatever. Here's some info from the actual press release:

"The Betrayal of Jimmy will take players into an alternate perspective of the mob through the eyes of Jimmy, a mercenary. Jimmy is the guy the other guys call when they need to finish the job. The Betrayal of Jimmy features dozens of intense newly created arcade-style, city-based missions that keep Jimmy driving, shooting and rampaging through Empire Bay. Missions will unlock as they progress, activating a slew of assassination and timed vehicle missions ending in dramatic shootouts and explosive car chases. Players will rack up points for performance, power slides, and skill shots. The scores will be immediately posted to the new leaderboard system, providing extensive re-playability, as players work to rise to the top of the ranks. Get to know Empire Bay - the executioner's way."

The other DLC (yes, there will be 2 of them) is called Jimmy's Vendetta and you guessed it, it's about the same Jimmy again, coming back to kick some ass and wash the blood from the floor. This time, the DLC will be available on all platforms, but there's no price information yet. Ah what the hell, it will cost $10. Take my word for it.

"In Jimmy's Vendetta, which will be available for PlayStation 3 system, Xbox 360 and PC, players will get their hands dirty helping Jimmy clean up other people's messes. New city-based missions and locales will give players many new reasons to head back to Empire Bay. Jimmy's Vendetta will offer more replay action and allow players to outrank friends as they rise to the top of the leaderboard. Details on pricing and availability for Jimmy's Vendetta will be revealed at a later date."

Bioware Ain't No Kinect Whore

Posted by

I dare you to make me dance

While companies like EA are already having wet dreams about the pile of money Kinect and Playstation Move will bring them, Bioware is not impressed. It takes more than a colorful stick to make them change the way they make games, and that's a dim light of hope for the industry. Of course, they will try to use the technologies, but not by making casual crappy games. Instead, they're thinking about "creating a greater sense of immersion by using gestures in dialogs", as Greg Zeschuk said in an interview.

He also says "We’re not going to do a party game, we’re not going to do Dance Dance Krogan for Mass Effect.” and “The reality is it’s going to have a really positive impact. There’s that impediment of a controller but hardcore gamers are never going to give that up. It might be nice to see a hybrid of a controller used with additional gesture on the side for immersive elements."

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to stand up and give this man a round of applause. It takes a lot of balls to resist the casual wave, but this guy right here has them, and they're rock solid.

Medal of Honor Limited Edition Goodies

Posted by

War can be really bright

What's a game without it's own Collectors/Limited/Legendary Edition nowadays? Rubbish apparently, since every AAA title must come in an expensive and pretty lame special package too. Medal of Honor has another idea: limited editions at no extra costs! Of course,  there's nothing "physical" about it, just some in-game goodies.

The first bonus will be MP7, a small sub-machine gun that handles much like a pistol, but has a neat armor penetrating ability. This weapon will be exclusive to this Limited Edition apparently. The second bonus will be an early access to the TOZ-194 and 870MC2 shotguns. Basically what this means is that we'll need less experience to unlock them than the players who purchased the standard edition. All you have to do to get this Limited Edition is preordering it, again, at no additional cost. EA also made a trailer for it:
