Portal 2 Delayed, Yet Not Valve-Like Delayed

Posted by

How would a game made by Valve be any good if it wasn't delayed at least 2 times over the course of its development? It wouldn't, so to keep their tradition rolling, Valve announced a slight delay for Portal 2, and that slight means 2 months. Remember, this is Valve, so judging by their notion of time, 2 months is like 5 minutes. What this means is that Portal 2 will be released on 18th of April 2011 instead of February 9th.

Valve's opinion on the matter: "This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date."

Valve Gives 2 Free L4D2 Copies To Those Who Got Banned In MW2

A few days ago, Modern Warfare 2 players started getting banned by the Valve Anti-Cheat(VAC) program on Steam for apparently no reason. Over 12,000 players got banned in what we now know was an error in Valve's coding. How could they ever make it up to them you ask? How about giving them two copies of Left 4 Dead 2 for free? Gabe Newell himself apologized and sent this nice message to the banned players:

Who Does It Best – Hype

Buying Halo 3 on line

The second feature of the "Who Does It Best" specials is back by popular demand, thanks to the positive feedback on the first one.

Hype is a major element in every developer's strategy, because even though you know your game is bad, you can still manage to sell millions of copies if you take care of your marketing department. At least on launch day anyway. Of course, hype is not a bad thing itself. Without it, there would be many unknown good games out there. So let's see who does it best now, shall we?

Who Does It Best – Cinematics [PC]

Posted by

Cinematics are the best way to explain and detail a game's plot fast and without the player's interaction (well, in most cases anyway). Some developers prefer to use the actual game engine to render them, which means that if the engine is shitty then so will the cinematics be and they will also have an impact on the performance, while others use pre-rendered and highly detailed movies to impress us. Now let's see who does it best.
