CliffyB Almost Bit The Hand That Feeds Him

Cliffy B

Just a piece of his awesomeness

I always thought of Cliff Bleszinski as a pretty cool guy, mostly because of his bold speeches. This morning, I was checking the Twitter when I saw him post this:  "therealcliffyb: Motion controls shouldn't have midnight launches. They should have post daycare launches."

Funny shit, since I thought he shared my sentiments on the subject. I also thought "Oh, how brave of him to go after Kinect and Microsoft, the guys who keep him in business and all". I was about to check him on my big balled people list, when 5 minutes later he adds: "therealcliffyb: And for the record I love Kinect. ;) "

Awwww... It's just like a bad comedy flick: "This teacher sucks! Oh, I mean rocks, don't fail me!". I guess he realized Twitter is a public website and anyone can read it, including MS. Too bad.

Bioware Ain't No Kinect Whore

Posted by

I dare you to make me dance

While companies like EA are already having wet dreams about the pile of money Kinect and Playstation Move will bring them, Bioware is not impressed. It takes more than a colorful stick to make them change the way they make games, and that's a dim light of hope for the industry. Of course, they will try to use the technologies, but not by making casual crappy games. Instead, they're thinking about "creating a greater sense of immersion by using gestures in dialogs", as Greg Zeschuk said in an interview.

He also says "We’re not going to do a party game, we’re not going to do Dance Dance Krogan for Mass Effect.” and “The reality is it’s going to have a really positive impact. There’s that impediment of a controller but hardcore gamers are never going to give that up. It might be nice to see a hybrid of a controller used with additional gesture on the side for immersive elements."

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to stand up and give this man a round of applause. It takes a lot of balls to resist the casual wave, but this guy right here has them, and they're rock solid.

No Kinect In China

Posted by

The enemy of the youth

Michel Van Der Bel, Microsoft's COO in China announced that the upcoming motion control device for Xbox 360, Kinect, is already banned on China's territory, for the same reason that the PS3 and the actual Xbox 360 are also banned: well actually we don't know exactly why, but it must be some kind of stupid reason like violence or national security. In any case, China banned mostly everything lately so it shouldn't be a surprise that Microsoft won't be able to sell their moving thingy over there.

The only consoles that made it in China were some Nintendo consoles, but since most of the games are way too gory for the young minds of the defenseless children, it comes with little consolation(get it? Hah!).
