Bioware Ain't No Kinect Whore

Posted by

I dare you to make me dance

While companies like EA are already having wet dreams about the pile of money Kinect and Playstation Move will bring them, Bioware is not impressed. It takes more than a colorful stick to make them change the way they make games, and that's a dim light of hope for the industry. Of course, they will try to use the technologies, but not by making casual crappy games. Instead, they're thinking about "creating a greater sense of immersion by using gestures in dialogs", as Greg Zeschuk said in an interview.

He also says "We’re not going to do a party game, we’re not going to do Dance Dance Krogan for Mass Effect.” and “The reality is it’s going to have a really positive impact. There’s that impediment of a controller but hardcore gamers are never going to give that up. It might be nice to see a hybrid of a controller used with additional gesture on the side for immersive elements."

I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to stand up and give this man a round of applause. It takes a lot of balls to resist the casual wave, but this guy right here has them, and they're rock solid.

Medal of Honor Limited Edition Goodies

Posted by

War can be really bright

What's a game without it's own Collectors/Limited/Legendary Edition nowadays? Rubbish apparently, since every AAA title must come in an expensive and pretty lame special package too. Medal of Honor has another idea: limited editions at no extra costs! Of course,  there's nothing "physical" about it, just some in-game goodies.

The first bonus will be MP7, a small sub-machine gun that handles much like a pistol, but has a neat armor penetrating ability. This weapon will be exclusive to this Limited Edition apparently. The second bonus will be an early access to the TOZ-194 and 870MC2 shotguns. Basically what this means is that we'll need less experience to unlock them than the players who purchased the standard edition. All you have to do to get this Limited Edition is preordering it, again, at no additional cost. EA also made a trailer for it:

Alan Wake PC Version Announced (Kinda)

Posted by

"I'm so lonely"

Alan Wake wanted to blast the competition by delivering a story driven gameplay with survival horror elements, but unfortunately it tried to do it on Xbox 360, so you can guess how that turned out. The sales were under the expectations by miles, so the next logical step is to re-release it on another platform. Or, try to do a better job with a sequel, but Remedy does not have another decade to spend.

The PC version wasn't officially announced or confirmed, but the online store at ShopTo.net listed it in the pre-order category along with a fixed and quite certain release date: 3rd of September this year. So believe what you want, but these guys seem pretty serious about it, and it could be just a matter of time before the rumor is confirmed.

No Kinect In China

Posted by

The enemy of the youth

Michel Van Der Bel, Microsoft's COO in China announced that the upcoming motion control device for Xbox 360, Kinect, is already banned on China's territory, for the same reason that the PS3 and the actual Xbox 360 are also banned: well actually we don't know exactly why, but it must be some kind of stupid reason like violence or national security. In any case, China banned mostly everything lately so it shouldn't be a surprise that Microsoft won't be able to sell their moving thingy over there.

The only consoles that made it in China were some Nintendo consoles, but since most of the games are way too gory for the young minds of the defenseless children, it comes with little consolation(get it? Hah!).

Dragon Age 2 On The Horizon

Posted by

Now THAT'S smoking hot, literally

After countless DLCs, Bioware finally admitted the fact that Dragon Age 2 is in development, which came as a surprise to absolutely no one. The game was indeed good, but it also sold like shit so it's really no surprise that they decided on a sequel.

We already found out from Gameinformer that the main character will be called Hawke and he's one of the few survivors of the Blight, that really massive undead infestation that served as a plot for the first part. Hawke may be described as a lucky guy, but like all soon to be heroes, he's just a low-life refugee in the beginning, barely being able to hunt down a hare to feed himself. Dragon Age's story will unfold over the course of 10 years, enough time for our hero to become the world's most powerful leader and fight the forces of the undead. Also, we are promised a new and better combat system and a far more advanced decision system that will affect the course of our journey in the world of Dragon Age.

This should come as good news for our patients suffering from the RPG disease, because it's been a long time since they've been able to treat their condition properly.
