EA and Ubisoft Break Up

You may not now about this, but EA bought quite a bit of Ubisoft and became the second largest voting group, meaning they had a big say in Ubisoft's actions. Now, for the first time in the history of the industry, EA is actually selling it's shares (all 14 million of them to be precise) instead of buying the whole company like they used to.

Supposedly this is merely a financial decision and there were no actual reasons for them to break up. Ubisoft declared that even though EA has been supportive of their strategies, they felt like the sale was "in their best interest". Rumors have it that Activision Blizzard put its eyes on those shares, but it's nothing official yet.

  1. Thanks for the up to date coverage of what’s going on in the gaming world. They say it was purely financial reasons why EA dumped their shares, but I’m sure there’s more to it than that.
