Who Does It Best – Cinematics [PC]

Cinematics are the best way to explain and detail a game's plot fast and without the player's interaction (well, in most cases anyway). Some developers prefer to use the actual game engine to render them, which means that if the engine is shitty then so will the cinematics be and they will also have an impact on the performance, while others use pre-rendered and highly detailed movies to impress us. Now let's see who does it best.

Ubisoft

Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands returned to the original Sands of Time story and gameplay mechanics, which is good. We've all been waiting for that since it got crappy 3 games ago. Anyway, Ubisoft always knew how to make a good cinematic, whether it's Prince of Persia or Splinter Cell.

Valve

Valve does almost everything better than everyone else, so it's no surprise that they excel at this part too. They are so proud of their Source Engine that they use it for cinematics too. No harm done though, it looks awesome.

Bioware

Even though they used still images for Neverwinter Nights back in 2002, Bioware has come a long way since then. Their latest games feature some amazing pre-rendered cinematics, as seen in Dragon Age and the Mass Effect titles.

Black Isle

They may be long gone, but there's no forgetting them. Who could possibly forget that amazing Fallout Intro? Sure, they triumphed in the 2d era with little tech possibilities, but who cares about technology when you have passion?

Blizzard

Ok, we've reach the maximum level of epic. Blizzard is a synonym for awesome and cinematic at the same time. If they weren't in the video gaming industry(and in the "making a pile of money with WoW industry), they would be at Hollywood now, helping James Cameron design 3D Smurfs and shit.

I wish I could link you to all of them, they all deserve to be watched over and over again. But not now, it's time for bed. Take your meds and shut up.
